Welcome, this site is dedicated to help those of you who like myself have taken that step into the world of the Sunbeams either S7 or S8 and have ever since been saying WHY!!

Hello there.

I'm John and these are a few words to explain where I'm coming from and what this site is about . Following National Service my training and occupation was in heavy electrical engineering , testing large machines , up to power station alternators . After a while I got fed up of shift work and made a career change , spending the next 29 years developing , and testing computer controlled shoe making machinery . This included the design and machining of prototype parts and assemblies . During this time 26 patents were taken out in my name so I was pretty successful at it . Following redundancy I am working for a company producing high tech refrigeration systems.

Currently aged 72 although that is liable to change without notice , I am a lifetime biker having personally owned some 59 motorcycles over the last 43 years , these vary from an NSU Quickly to two Ariel Mk 2 Square Fours ,mostly British but including French , Italian , German , Russian , American , and Japanese .

I never was particularly into any one make until my first Sunbeam S-8 which was aquired as a rusty rolling chassis and a tea chest full of bits 21 years ago , something about that bike struck a chord with me , perhaps the fact that they were known to be under developed which presented a challenge , or maybe just the fact that they are so different , for whatever reason I have been hooked on them ever since and am currently on my fourth rebuild .

Having been in the Sunbeam Owners Fellowship from the start it has become apparent to me that over the years club members have put much thought and effort into solving the inherant problems of Sunbeams , it has also become apparent that this knowledge is somewhat fragmented since the same questions and answers come up time after time in the magazine as new members join the club .

So that is the purpose of this site , to bring together all the worthwhile hints , tips , and modifications in a progressive manner from the simple to the very complicated but as far as possible ones that I can personally vouch for . If you find just one pearl of wisdom here that is useful to you then the effort will have been worth while .
